On the organizational side, we managed a record-breaking edition that welcomed 513 international participants and an impressive scientific agenda featuring 411 presentations and 56 posters. The true strategic breakthrough was the introduction of a brand-new format based on 24 workshops and 7 Active Labs: practical, interactive sessions designed to stimulate direct debate, which were a resounding success, especially among younger researchers. We also coordinated the initiatives for Austria, this year’s Special Guest Country, whose 44 delegates enriched the symposium by integrating scientific sessions with cultural exchange events dedicated to Austrian traditions, food, and customs.
To highlight the solemnity and prestige of the institutional highlights, we directed a spectacular ceremony for the presentation of the Sardinia Award “A Life for Waste”. The event took place in an atmosphere of great solemnity, opened by a performance from the renowned Sassari Brigade Band and enhanced by the participation of high-ranking regional officials, culminating in the official presentation of the award directly by the President of the Region.
