The 2025 edition of SUM represented one of the most ambitious organizational challenges faced by our team. For the occasion, we transformed the historic Palazzo d’Avalos – a former Bourbon residence and former prison – into a temporary conference venue, building the entire technical infrastructure necessary for the event. For the setups, we chose to highlight one of the island’s most authentic traditions by displaying some of the “Misteri” from Procida’s Good Friday Procession—extraordinary local traditional artworks, some of which were made from salvaged materials, perfectly aligned with the themes of circular economy and regeneration.
In this unique setting, we coordinated a multidisciplinary scientific program featuring over 120 presentations, structured into three parallel sessions including oral communications, workshops, and posters, welcoming 169 delegates from 22 countries.
Procida’s authentic and intimate atmosphere also inspired the social program, designed to offer an immersive experience of the territory and its rhythms. From the opening evening at a traditional farmhouse—complete with a live tasting of typical Procidan lemon salad—to a charming sunset boat aperitif and the final beach dinner followed by a terrace dance party, every moment was crafted to foster connections, networking, and the discovery of local traditions.
